How To Make chocolate baked alaska
-
Step 1Prepare Ice Cream Filling: Soften 1/2 gallon mint chocolate chip ice cream (or your favorite flavor). Line 2 1/2 quart mixing bowl with aluminum foil; spread ice cream evenly in bowl. Cover; freeze until hard.
-
Step 2Combine flour, sugar, cocoa, baking soda, and salt in large mixer bowl. Add water, oil, vinegar, and vanilla; beat 3 minutes on medium speed until thoroughly blended. Pour into greased and floured 9 inch layer pan. Bake at 350 for 30-35 minutes or until cake tester comes out clean. Cool 10 minutes; remove from pan. Cool completely. Cut 12 inch square of brown paper or wax paper; place on top of the wooden board or cookie sheet. Center cake layer on paper; top with unmolded Ice Cream Filling, rounded side up. Cover; freeze until cake is firm.
-
Step 3When ready to serve dessert, prepare Marshmallow Meringue: Bring 6 egg whites to room temperature. Beat with 1/8 teaspoon salt in large mixer bowl until soft peaks form. Gradually add 1 3/4 cups (7 ounce jar) marshmallow creme, beating until stiff peaks form. Remove dessert from freezer. Spread meringue evenly about 1 inch thick over entire surface, covering any holes and sealing down to paper. Bake in preheated 450 oven for 3-5 minutes or until lightly browned. Remove from oven; slice in wedges. Serve immediately with syrup. Cover and refreeze any leftovers; serve within several days.
