I'd never had cherry ice cream until last year. I fell in love with the stuff when I wanted some flavor other than vanilla to serve with brownies at Christmas and purchased some at the grocery store. To further my love affair, I adapted another flavor recipe that came with my ice cream machine and used canned dark cherries. Yum!

Ingredients

  • 2 cans dark sweet cherries in heavy syrup, drained
  • 3/4 cup syrup from the canned cherries
  • 1 cup whipping cream
  • 1 can sweetened condensed milk
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla

How To Make black cherry ice cream

  • Step 1
Prepare your ice cream machine according to the manufacturer's directions and churn the ice cream until it is frozen. Transfer the ice cream to a plastic container, cover the ice cream with cling wrap (to avoid ice crystals) and a lid, and place in the freezer for a couple of hours to cure, or according to your machine's directions.
