My Dad raises old time eating pumpkins so this is a family tradition every fall. This is a wonderful dish and goes well with any meal.

Ingredients
- 10 cups fresh pumpkin, peeled and cut into chunks
- 3 cups sugar
- 1 cup solid shortening
How To Make fried pumpkin

Step 1Peel and cut up pumpkin

Step 2Cover pumpkin with water and boil until tender

Step 3Drain cooked pumpkin into colander and press excess water out

Step 4Put pumpkin into large skillet with shortening and sugar

Step 5Cook on low/med stirring often until copper colored

Step 6Serve warm with a little heavy cream on top
