Ingredients

  • 3 1/2 tablespoons unsalted butter or margarine
  • 2 tablespoons white sugar
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 4 slices white bread, toasted
  • 1 1/2 cups hot milk
  • 3 - eggs
  • 1/3 cup finely ground hazelnuts or walnuts
  • 1 dash nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon grated lemon peel
  • 1 16-ounce cans canned dark sweet pitted cherries, drained (reserve 4 cherry halves for topping)
  • 1 cup heavy cream, whipped (for topping)

How To Make cherry bread pudding (chriesibragel)

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Step 2
    Grease a medium-sized round casserole dish with 1/2 tablespoon butter.
  • Step 3
    Sprinkle dish lightly with 2 tablespoons sugar.
  • Step 4
    Cut toasted bread into small cubes and place into a large bowl.
  • Step 5
    Add hot milk and remaining butter and beat until smooth.
  • Step 6
    Add remaining ingredients (except cream), blending well.
  • Step 7
    Pour mixture into prepared baking dish and bake for 40 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Remove from oven and allow to cool slightly.
  • Step 9
    Serve warm.
  • Step 10
    Top each serving with whipped cream and garnish with a cherry half.
