sugar plus three tablespoons on the side
1/2 c
dark brown sugar
1/4 c
dark molasses
3 c
unbleached wheat flour
2 tsp
ginger powder
1/4 tsp
1 tsp
baking soda
2 tsp
cinnamon, ground
1/4 tsp
clove, ground
2 Tbsp
fresh ginger,minced very fine
1 large
1 Tbsp
3/4 c
unsalted butter,softened

How to Make Soft Ginger Cookies


  • 1Sift together all of the dry ingredients,except the sugars. Cream the butter with the sugars,add in the egg,water and molasses.
  • 2Slowly add in the dry ingredients the the fresh ginger. Roll the cookies into walnut sized balls the roll them in the reserved three tablespoons of sugar to coat.
  • 3Place them on your baking sheet,two inches apart,about nine per sheet. Bake in a pre-heated 350 degree oven for ten minutes. Let cool on the baking sheet for ten minutes,move to a wire rack to cool completely. Store them in a plastic Tupperware container,enjoy!! :)
