This recipe started out as Trisha Yearwood's Snickerdoodles, but she uses half butter and half shortening. I like them better with all butter. My family eats these by the dozen.

Ingredients

  • 1 c
    butter softned
  • 1 c
    white granulated sugar
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 3/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 2 tsp
    cream of tartar
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    fine salt
  • 2 Tbsp
    granulated sugar
  • 2 tsp
    cinnomon

How to Make Snickerdoodles

Step-by-Step

  1. In a small bowl mix the cinnamon and the 2 tbsp of sugar and set aside
  2. Cream the eggs, sugar, and butter with a mixer until fluffy
  3. Sift the dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt together
  4. Add the dry ingredients to the creamed egg, butter and sugar mixture
  5. Roll the balls in the small bowl of sugar and cinnamon
  6. Place the coated balls on a baking sheet ( I use parchment paper or a silicone mat)
  7. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes (based on your oven) and let cookie cool on the cookie sheet on a rack for 3 minutes then move the cookies directly to a cooling rack for another 10 minutes.
  8. Store cookies in an air tight container
