This recipe started out as Trisha Yearwood's Snickerdoodles, but she uses half butter and half shortening. I like them better with all butter. My family eats these by the dozen.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter softned
  • 1 cup white granulated sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon fine salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnomon

How To Make snickerdoodles

  • Step 1
    In a small bowl mix the cinnamon and the 2 tbsp of sugar and set aside
  • Step 2
    Cream the eggs, sugar, and butter with a mixer until fluffy
  • Step 3
    Sift the dry ingredients, flour, baking soda, cream of tartar and salt together
  • Step 4
    Add the dry ingredients to the creamed egg, butter and sugar mixture
  • Step 5
    Roll the balls in the small bowl of sugar and cinnamon
  • Step 6
    Place the coated balls on a baking sheet ( I use parchment paper or a silicone mat)
  • Step 7
    Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes (based on your oven) and let cookie cool on the cookie sheet on a rack for 3 minutes then move the cookies directly to a cooling rack for another 10 minutes.
  • Step 8
    Store cookies in an air tight container
