I got this wonderful recipe from my friend Kim Webb about 30 years ago. I still make them every Christmas.

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup shortening
  • 1 1/2 cups sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons cream of tartar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 teaspoons cinnamon

How To Make snickerdoodles

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 400 derees.
  • Step 2
    Mix thoroughly: butter, shortening, 1 1/2 cups sugar and eggs.
  • Step 3
    Blend in flour, cream of tartar. baking soda and salt
  • Step 4
    Shape into balls (1 tsp. each)
  • Step 5
    Mix 2 Tbsp. sugar and cinnamon. Roll each ball in the cinnamon mixture.
  • Step 6
    Place balls 2 inches apart on an ungreased cookie sheet.
  • Step 7
    Bake 8 to 10 minutes or until set.
  • Step 8
    Remove immediately from cookie sheet and cool on a wire rack.
