I love these cookies as the almond gives it a special taste. This recipe was given to me by my Daughter in Law and has been one of my husbands favorites.

Ingredients

1 c
sugar
1/2 c
butter ( soft )
1
egg
1/2 tsp
almond extract
1-3/4 c
flour
2 tsp
baking powder
1/4 tsp
salt
1 Tbsp
milk
1/2 c
chopped almonds

ICING

1 c
powdered sugar
1/4 tsp
almond extract
1--2 Tbsp
milk

How to Make Scandinavian Almond Bars

Step-by-Step

  • 1Turn on oven to 325* Bake 18-20 min.
  • 2Cream sugar and butter. Beat in egg and extract.
    Add dry ingredients Mix well
  • 3Divide dough in half and make two rolls the length of sheet pan 12 W x 17 L ( we call it a 1/2 sheet pan)
    Flatten each roll to 3 " wide. Pat milk on top and sprinkle on the chopped almonds
  • 4Bake at 325* 18-20 min or until edges slightly browned.
    Cool in pan 5 min. Cut diagonally and place each piece on a wire rack.
  • 5Mix the icing ingredients together and drizzle over the bars.
