I am an oatmeal cookie lover ! You can have ALL your boring chocolate chip, or overly sweet sugar cookies ... GIVE ME AN OATMEAL COOKIE ANYDAY !! This recipe makes a nicely spiced, moist, chewy, cookie with plump, sweet, raisins ! MY FAVORITE :)

  • 3 1/2 c
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
  • 3 1/2 c
    rolled oats
  • 1 c
  • 1 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 1 tsp
  • 1/4 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/4 c
    vegetable shortening
  • 3/4 c
  • 3
  • 1 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 c
    raisins, plumped in boiling water, and well drained

How to Make Perfect Oatmeal Cookies


  1. Blend all dry ingredients in mixer for 2 minutes on low speed.
  2. Add shortening, butter, eggs, and vanilla. Mix for 1 minute on medium speed until well combined.
  3. Add plumped, drained, raisins and blend for 30 seconds until raisins are well distributed in dough.
  4. Drop cookies by tablespoon or cookie scoop onto parchment lined baking sheets.
    Bake for 12 minutes at 350 degrees
