My mom always made these at Christmas time. They are similar to Mexican Wedding cakes.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup butter
  • 2 1/2 cups flour, sifted
  • 1 cup pecans, chopped
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 cup powdered sugar (for rolling)

How To Make pecan sticks

  • Step 1
    Cream butter, add sugar and rest of ingredients (except for powdered sugar).
  • Step 2
    Mix well, roll into "sticks" about the size of your thumb. (I suppose that depends how big your thumbs are!)
  • Step 3
    Bake at 250 degrees F. for 45 minutes.
  • Step 4
    While hot, roll them in powdered sugar, let cool on rack
