  • 1 c
  • 2
  • 2 c
  • 4 1/2 c
  • 2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
    each - baking soda & baking powder
  • 1 c
    soured milk
  • juice
    of one orange
  • grated
    rind of two oranges

  • 3 3/4 c
    confectioners' sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    softened, butter
  • 1
    orange, juiced and rind grated - add more juice if needed to get desired spreading consistency

How to Make ~ Orange Drop Cookies ~


  1. Preheat oven to 400 degree F.

    In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, eggs and sugar.
  2. Combine flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
  3. Mix in the dry ingredients, with the wet mixture, alternating with the sour milk. Ending with flour.

    Stir in the rind and juice.
  4. Drop by teaspoonful on a lightly greased baking sheet.

    Bake for 8 - 10 minutes or until beginning to color on edges.
  5. Remove from sheet pan to cooling racks.
  6. Cool completely and then frost.


    In a medium bowl, combine frosting ingredients, mix well, and add more juice if need be...you want it to be thicker though, not a glaze.
  7. Enjoy!
