~ orange drop cookies ~
One of my very favorite cookies, in my opinion get better by the day. Just in time for Santa. Enjoy!

Ingredients
- 1 cup shortening
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 4 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon each - baking soda & baking powder
- 1 cup soured milk
- juice - of one orange
- grated - rind of two oranges
- FROSTING
- 3 3/4 cups confectioners' sugar
- 1 tablespoon softened, butter
- 1 - orange, juiced and rind grated - add more juice if needed to get desired spreading consistency
How To Make ~ orange drop cookies ~

Step 1Preheat oven to 400 degree F. In a large mixing bowl, cream shortening, eggs and sugar.

Step 2Combine flour, salt, baking soda and baking powder.

Step 3Mix in the dry ingredients, with the wet mixture, alternating with the sour milk. Ending with flour. Stir in the rind and juice.

Step 4Drop by teaspoonful on a lightly greased baking sheet. Bake for 8 - 10 minutes or until beginning to color on edges.

Step 5Remove from sheet pan to cooling racks.

Step 6Cool completely and then frost. Frosting: In a medium bowl, combine frosting ingredients, mix well, and add more juice if need be...you want it to be thicker though, not a glaze.
