Ingredients

  • 3/4 c
    soft shortening (crisco)
  • 1 c
    brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1
    egg
  • 1/4 c
    molasses
  • 2 1/4 c
    flour
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp
    salt
  • 1/2 tsp
    cloves
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ginger

How to Make Molasses crinkle cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream shortening , brown sugar, egg and molasses thoroughly.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients and stir into creamed mixture.
    Then chill for an hour.
  3. Heat oven to 375.
    Roll chilled dough into 1 inch balls or larger for larger cookies. Dip tops into granulated sugar.
    Place sugar side up on parchment paper lined or greased
    cookie sheet.
  4. Sprinkle each cookie with few drops of water.
    Bake 10-12 min or till just set NOT HARD.

    Makes about 4 doz
