If you're looking for a soft cut sugar cookie, this is the recipe for you! I looked for a recipe like this for years and finally got this one from a friend. ENJOY!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups sugar
  • 1 cup crisco
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 6 cups flour
  • 3 tablespoons vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk

How To Make melt in your mouth sugar cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream sugar and Crisco until light and fluffy, add eggs, baking soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Mix well.
  • Step 2
    Alternate flour and buttermilk. (I usually only use between 5 1/2 -5 3/4 cups of flour). Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
  • Step 3
    Place dough on floured pastry cloth. Roll to desired thickness. 1/4" makes a good puffed up cookie. Cut out and bake at 350 for 7-9 minutes until just golden brown on the bottom.
