Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    crisco
  • 2
    eggs
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 tsp
    salt
  • 6 c
    flour
  • 3 Tbsp
    vanilla
  • 1 c
    buttermilk

How to Make Melt In Your Mouth Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Cream sugar and Crisco until light and fluffy, add eggs, baking soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Mix well.
  2. Alternate flour and buttermilk. (I usually only use between 5 1/2 -5 3/4 cups of flour). Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
  3. Place dough on floured pastry cloth. Roll to desired thickness. 1/4" makes a good puffed up cookie. Cut out and bake at 350 for 7-9 minutes until just golden brown on the bottom.
