1 3/4 c
sugar
1 c
crisco
2
eggs
2 tsp
baking soda
1 1/2 tsp
baking powder
1 tsp
salt
6 c
flour
3 Tbsp
vanilla
1 c
buttermilk

How to Make Melt In Your Mouth Sugar Cookies

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream sugar and Crisco until light and fluffy, add eggs, baking soda, baking powder, salt and vanilla. Mix well.
  • 2Alternate flour and buttermilk. (I usually only use between 5 1/2 -5 3/4 cups of flour). Cover and refrigerate for an hour.
  • 3Place dough on floured pastry cloth. Roll to desired thickness. 1/4" makes a good puffed up cookie. Cut out and bake at 350 for 7-9 minutes until just golden brown on the bottom.
