Rich, buttery cookies that can be filled with any preserves or jam. Great holiday cookies.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sifted flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/4 cups butter
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 tablespoons vanilla
  • 1/4 teaspoon apricot preserves or any flavored jam or orange marmalade
  • 1/3 cup finely chopped walnuts

How To Make jam filled butter cookies

  • Step 1
    Sift flour and salt together.
  • Step 2
    Cream butter and gradually add sugar, creaming well.
  • Step 3
    Blend in unbeaten eggs and vanilla; beat well.
  • Step 4
    Add the dry ingredients gradually; mix thoroughly.
  • Step 5
    Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased baking sheets.
  • Step 6
    Dent center of each, using back of teaspoon dipped in cold water. Place preserves or jam into center of each. Sprinkle with nuts.
  • Step 7
    Bake at 375 degrees for 10-12 minutes.
