I got this recipe from my sister and I have been making these for over 30 years. They are a soft yummy cookie. If you stuck a bowl of fruit cocktail in front of me I wouldn't eat it but I love these cookies.

can fruit coctail
1/2 c
butter
1/2 c
brown sugar
1/2 c
sugar
1 tsp
vanilla
1
egg
2 c
flour
1/2 tsp
baking powder
1/2 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1/2 tsp
cinnamon
1/2 tsp
ground cloves

How to Make Fruit Coctail Gems

Step-by-Step

  • 1Drain the fruit cocktail and save the syrup. Cream together butter, sugars, egg and vanilla until fluffy.
  • 2Add 1/2 cup of syrup with the dry ingredients. Fold in fruit cocktail and drop by teaspoons full on cookie sheet and bake at 375 for 10-12 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
