I found this recipe in a little church cookbook put out by the ladies of the church back in the 1980s. These cookies are so good!

  • 1 c
    unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 c
    packed light brown sugar
  • 1
    egg, room temperature
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla
  • 2 c
    unbleached all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    salt
  • 1 pkg
    (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 c
    chopped walnuts
  • 1 c
    powdered sugar

How to Make Foothill House Sweet Dream Cookies

Step-by-Step

  1. Using mixer, cream butter. Beat in brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt. Blend into butter mixture. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Refrigerate until firm. (Can be prepared a day ahead.)
  2. Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease baking sheets. Break off small pieces of dough, roll into 1-inch rounds. Dredge in powdered sugar.
  3. Arrange on cookie sheet, spacing at least 2 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes. Let cool at least 5 minutes on sheets. Transfer to racks and cool. Store in airtight container.
