foothill house sweet dream cookies
I found this recipe in a little church cookbook put out by the ladies of the church back in the 1980s. These cookies are so good!

Makes 6 dozen
Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 1/2 cups packed light brown sugar
- 1 - egg, room temperature
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 cups unbleached all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 package (12 oz.) semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
- 1 cup powdered sugar

Step 1Using mixer, cream butter. Beat in brown sugar, egg and vanilla. Combine flour, baking soda, cinnamon, ginger and salt. Blend into butter mixture. Fold in chocolate chips and nuts. Refrigerate until firm. (Can be prepared a day ahead.)

Step 2Preheat oven to 375. Lightly grease baking sheets. Break off small pieces of dough, roll into 1-inch rounds. Dredge in powdered sugar.

Step 3Arrange on cookie sheet, spacing at least 2 inches apart. Bake 10 minutes. Let cool at least 5 minutes on sheets. Transfer to racks and cool. Store in airtight container.
