This is another ex MIL recipe. I like the hint of lemon that makes these cookies different than most. And they don't taste like paste!

CREAM
1 1/2 sticks butter, softened
1 cup sugar
BEAT IN
2 - eggs
1 teaspoon vanilla
1 teaspoon lemon zest, grated
SIFT TOGETHER AND SPOON IN
3 cups all purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt

How To Make donna's sugar cookies mmb

Step 1

Divide dough into 4 pieces. Wrap in waxed paper and chill 2 or more hours.

Step 2

Roll one portion at a time to 1/4 or 1/8 thickness on a lightly floured board.
Step 3

Cut out in your favorite shapes. Sprinkle with sugar decorations before baking.
Step 4

Bake at 350 for about 10 minutes on an ungreased cookie sheet.
