  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup flour
  • 3/4 cup quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/3 cup coarsely chopped walnuts (optional)

How To Make date bars

  • Step 1
Combine evaporated milk, dates, sugar and vanilla in medium saucepan. Cook over medium-low heat, stirring, until thickened (8 to 10 minutes). Stir on walnuts; remove from heat and cool.
  • Step 2
