This is the perfect cookie for any occasion! Crispy on the edges but soft and chewy in the middle. Add the smooth chocolatey goodness in the form of frosting on top as well as a glass of milk on the side and you will be reminded of the good ole days when Grannie cut you a big piece of her homemade chocolate sheet cake! Instant stress-relief!

Ingredients

  • COOKIES
  • 1 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup sugar
  • 2 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 2/3 cups all purpose flour
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • FROSTING
  • 1/2 cup butter, melted
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, unsweetened
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 3/4 cups powdered sugar

How To Make "cow patties" aka texas sheet cake cookies

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line baking sheet with parchment paper.
  • Step 2
    Cream sugar and butter. Add eggs, vanilla, baking soda, and salt. Slowly add flour.
  • Step 3
    Melt semi-sweet chocolate chips in the microwave, taking care to stir every 15 seconds to prevent burning.
  • Step 4
    Mix melted chocolate chips in with the cookie batter.
  • Step 5
    Drop by 1-2 tablespoons onto baking sheet. Bake for 7-8 minutes. *DO NOT OVERBAKE!* The perfect cookie will be crispy around the edges but soft and cake-like in the center!
  • Step 6
    While cookies are cooling, mix all frosting ingredients using the low speed setting on your mixer.
  • Step 7
    Once the cookies are cooled, pipe frosting onto them in a swirl pattern starting at the outside and working your way in.
