Almond Crescents

This is our traditional Christmas cookie. We have had these at every Christmas for as long as I can remember.

  • 1/2 lb
    unsalted, sweet butter (2 cubes)
  • 2-1/4 c
    all purpose flour
  • 1-1/2 c
    granulated sugar
  • 1-1/2 c
    finely ground almonds (approx. 10 oz.)
  • 1 tsp

How to Make Almond Crescents


  1. In a large bowl, work together the butter and flour with your hands.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and work together until very smooth; let stand 15 minutes.
  3. Preheat oven to 275º - 300º
  4. Take a piece of dough the size of a walnut. Roll into a ball and then squeeze it into a crescent shape.
  5. Put cookies on ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 30-40 minutes. Note: cookies will be VERY LIGHTLY brown in color. Do not let get too brown!
