Puppy chow is easy to make and Chex cereal even has the muddy buddies recipe on the box. I made a few changes to the recipe. I use the same amount of chocolate coating and substituted root beer flavored oil for the vanilla.

Ingredients

9 cups rice chex cereal
2 cups white chocolate chips
1/2 cup shortening
2 teaspoons root beer flavored oil (lorann oils)
2 cups powdered sugar

How To Make root beer float muddy buddies puppy chow

Step 1

Measure Rice Chex into a large bowl and set aside.

Step 2

Put white chocolate chips and shortening into a microwave safe bowl.
Step 3

Microwave for 1 minute, stir and then microwave for 30 seconds longer.
Step 4

Add root beer flavored oil and stir well.
Step 5

Pour mixture over the Rice Chex and gently stir to coat.
Step 6

Put chocolate coated Rice Chex into a gallon sized zip top plastic bag.
Step 7

Add the powdered sugar, zip the top of the bag shut and shake until the cereal is coated.
Step 8

Spread on a piece of waxed paper to cool.
