reese's peanut butter-stuffed brownies

I was making brownie and wanted to make them homemade, but didn't have enough cocoa powder. But, I did have a box of brownie mix. My husband loves chocolate and peanut butter and I had Reese's peanut butter cups, so I came up with this recipe and he was in love...with the brownies, lol.

Ingredients

  • 1 package family sized brownie mix, i used duncan hines
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/3 cup canola or vegetable oil
  • 1/3 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, at room temp.
  • 16 - full size reese's peanut butter cups, frozen, then unwrapped
  • 1 can whipped chocolate frosting
  • 2 tablespoons smooth peanut butter
  • 1 large egg

How To Make reese's peanut butter-stuffed brownies

  • Step 1
    heat oven to 350. Lightly spray a 9x13" baking pan w/ cooking spray. In lg bowl, beat with mixer, brownie mix, cream cheese, oil, water, butter and egg.
  • Step 2
    Spread brownie mix in baking pan. Press peanut butter cups into batter just so that the tops are even with batter. Bake 25-33 mins, or until a toothpick inserted into brownie part, ( not into candy,) comes out clean.
  • Step 3
    Let cool for about 10 mins. In bowl, mix together frosting and peanut butter. Spread over brownie mix. Cut into squares.
