butter
1 1/2 c
sugar
3
eggs
1 c
milk
1/3 c
cornstarch
2 c
flour
1 1/2 tsp
ground mixed spices
3 tsp
baking powder
1 c
raisins
1 c
chopped nuts
1/3 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips
white boiled icing
1 tsp
lemon juice
16 c
boiled chestnuts, ground
confectioners' sugar

How to Make Witch Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Cream butter with sugar; add eggs and beat 5 minutes; add milk.
  • 2Sift together cornstarch, flour, spices and baking powder; then add to the mixture. Flour raisins and add to mixture with nuts. Turn into a well greased loaf cake pan and bake in a moderate oven about 45 minutes.
  • 3Frost cooled cake with boiled icing. Melt chocolate; then add in lemon juice and chestnuts and enough confectioner's sugar to make a paste easily handled.
  • 4Roll the paste and cut into Halloween figures, press them into the icing on the sides of the cake.
