I received this recipe from Grandma Pletcher. When Grandpa had his first heart attack this was our dessert of choice because it did not require eggs.

Unless we are having company, we eat this unfrosted.

Ingredients

3 c
all purpose flour
2 c
sugar
1/3 c
cocoa powder
1 tsp
salt
2 tsp
soda
1 tsp
vanilla
2 Tbsp
vinegar
3/4 c
cooking oil
2 c
warm water

How to Make Wacky Cake

Step-by-Step

  • 1Sift all dry ingredients into an ungreased 9 X 13 cake pan
  • 2Make 3 wells
  • 3Mix together vanilla, oil, and vinegar.
    Pour equal amount into each well.
  • 4Pour two cups warm water over all ingredients.
  • 5Mix well with a fork. Do not over mix.
  • 6Bake at 350 degrees for 30 - 35 minutes.
  • 7After cooling add your favorite frosting or leave plain.
