I found this recipe in our local newspaper many years ago, and it has been a favorite ever since. what's different about this recipe is that the marshmellows ooze up through the cake mix as it's baking, making like a melted marshmellow and strawberry cake texture. We usually eat it without frosting it's that good.

miniature marshmellows
1 pkg
white cake mix
2 c
sliced strawberrys
1/2 c
1 pkg
3 oz. strawberry flavored gelatin
whipped cream or cool whip
sliced strawberrys


1Place a layer of marshmellows on bottom of 9x13 in. pan. Prepare cake mix as directed on the box.
2Pour prepared cake batter over marshmellows.
3Mix strawberrys, sugar and dry gelatin together; stir well. Pour strawberry mixture over cake mix
4Bake at 350 degrees 40 to 45 minutes (325 degrees if glass pan is used).
5Cool, then frost with whipped cream or cool whip Garnish with sliced strawberrys.
