southern tea cakes
This is probably one of my family's OLDEST recipes. Not sure where it came from, but the recipe card is old, withered, and covered in stains, so you know it's a good one! It's super yummy and can be eaten plain, or spiced up with other ingredients.

Ingredients
- 1 cup butter or crisco
- 2 - eggs
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 4 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 5-6 tablespoons milk
How To Make southern tea cakes

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 F. Mix all ingredients together.

Step 2Flour a surface, and roll out dough. It should be thicker than an average cookie. Cut out cookies (using a cup or a circular cookie cutter).

Step 3Bake for approximately 10 minutes. Periodically check on the cookies as they bake, and get them out before they brown.
