Very much the same as Pennsylvania Dutch shoo-fly pie, just without the crust and wet bottom. Very moist!

This can also be made into cupcakes, bake for about 30 minutes.

Yummy for breakfast!

Ingredients

4 c
flour
2 c
brown sugar, firmly packed
2/3 c
crisco
1 tsp
baking soda
1/2 tsp
salt
1 tsp
canola oil
2 c
boiling water

How to Make Shoo-fly Cake (Molasses Crumb)

Step-by-Step

  • 1Mix together flour, brown sugar, and Crisco to make crumbs. Reserve 1cup crumbs for topping.
  • 2Mix together remaining crumbs with remaining ingredients to make batter. Batter will be runny.
  • 3Pour batter into greased and floured 9 x 13 pan. Top with reserved crumbs
  • 4Bake at 350 for 40-45 minutes or until cake tests done.
