One of my all time favorites for Christmas

Ingredients

  • 1 box yellow cake mix (18.25oz.)
  • 1 1/3 cups water
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 package instant vanilla pudding and pie filling
  • 3 - eggs
  • 2 teaspoons imitation rum extract
  • 1 cup walnuts
  • RUM SAUCE
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup half and half
  • 2 teaspoons imitation rum extract
  • 1/8 teaspoon salt

How To Make rum cake

  • Step 1
    Beat all ingredients (except walnuts) on low in large bowl of electric mixer 30 seconds or until moistened. Beat on high 3 minutes or until light and fluffy.
  • Step 2
    Grease and flour 12 cup fluted tube pan; sprinkle with the walnuts. Pour batter on top of nuts.
  • Step 3
    Bake in a 350 degree F oven 45 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool in pan 15 minutes; invert on wire rack to cool completely . Drizzle with sauce.
  • Step 4
    For the rum sauce; in medium saucepan, gently boil brown sugar and butter 1 minute. Add half and half. Gently boil a few more seconds. Remove from heat; add extract and salt. Makes 1 cup.
