A recipe my sister, Maxine, used to make when we were kids. No food coloring used -- It's a natural reddish shade.

Ingredients
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup butter or margarine
- 2 - eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1/3 teaspoon salt
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1/2 cup cocoa
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 1 cup boiling water
How To Make red devil's food cake

Step 1Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat.

Step 2Sift flour, cocoa, baking soda and salt.

Step 3Add alternately with the buttermilk.

Step 4Add water and vanilla last.

Step 5Bake in a prepared 13x9 pan at 350 for 35 to 40 minutes. Can also be made in layers or in a tube pan.
