This is a cake my Mom use to make. It's so loaded with goodies, why bother with a frosting. This ones for you MOM!

Ingredients

  • 1 3/4 cups boiling water
  • 1 cup uncooked oatmeal
  • 1 cup brown sugar, firmly packed
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 stick butter
  • 1 large eggs
  • 1 3/4 cups unsifted flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cocoa
  • 12 ounces pkg. chocolate chips
  • 3/4 cup chopped walnuts

How To Make oatmeal chocolate chip cake

  • Step 1
    Pour boiling water over oatmeal in mixing bowl of standard mixer. Let stand for 10 minutes. Add sugars and butter. Stir until butter has melted.
  • Step 2
    Add eggs and mix well. Sift together flour, baking soda, salt, and cocoa. Add flour mixture to batter and mix well. Add you chips and nuts.
  • Step 3
    Pour in a 13x9 pan and bake at 350 for 45 minutes or until cake tests done in center and toothpick comes out clean.
