This has been a perennial favorite in my family since before I was born (extended family as well as immediate). These are a cake like brownie but oh so good!

Ingredients
- BROWNIES
- 1/4 pound butter, softened
- 1 cup sugar
- 4 - eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 16 ounces chocolate syrup
- 1 1/8 cups flour, sifted
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 cup favorite nutmeat, optional
- GLAZE
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 6 tablespoons milk
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
How To Make mom's scrummy brownies

Step 1Beat together butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.

Step 2Add chocolate syrup, flour, nutmeats (optional) and baking powder; beat until thoroughly blended.

Step 3Pour into a 9" x 13" cake pan and bake 35-40 minutes at 350° F.

Step 4For the glaze: Place butter, milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil on medium heat for 3 1/2 to 4 minutes or until it reaches 236° F on a candy thermometer.

Step 5Remove from heat and add chocolate chips.

Step 6Spread onto brownies while they are still warm.
