This has been a perennial favorite in my family since before I was born (extended family as well as immediate). These are a cake like brownie but oh so good!

Ingredients For mom's scrummy brownies
1 1/8 c
favorite nutmeat, optional
1 1/2 c
semi-sweet chocolate chips
How To Make mom's scrummy brownies
Beat together butter, sugar, eggs and vanilla.
Add chocolate syrup, flour, nutmeats (optional) and baking powder; beat until thoroughly blended.
Pour into a 9" x 13" cake pan and bake 35-40 minutes at 350° F.
For the glaze:
Place butter, milk and sugar in a saucepan and bring to boil on medium heat for 3 1/2 to 4 minutes or until it reaches 236° F on a candy thermometer.
Remove from heat and add chocolate chips.
Spread onto brownies while they are still warm.
