1 lball purpose flour ( 4 cups)
1 lbsugar ( 3 1/2 cups )
6eggs (separate yolks )
3/4 lbbutter, softened ( 3 sticks )
1/2cup bourbon whiskey ( 1 cup if you like )
1 tspbaking soda ( dissolve in buttermilk )
1 lbpecans, in pieces ( 2 cups )
How to Make Mama Grace's Nut Cake
- Preheat oven 250 Sift flour set aside. Coat raisins and pecans with a little extra flour, set aside,beat egg whites set aside.
- Cream butter and sugar well, add egg yolks, nutmeg, cinnamon,
add flour a little at a time with buttermilk and soda mixture,also add the molasses and the bourbon whiskey,
- Add floured raisins and pecans, add beaten egg whites to mixture and mix well, Bake 2 1/2 hours, Bake in a large greased tube pan ( 12 cup size ) put two layers of waxed paper on of pan.
- Keep cake moist, add more whiskey if you like.
