mama grace's nut cake
Mama Grace and her sister n law Pearlie Harris would bake this cake a month to two months before Christmas. They told me they kelp the cake sealed tight, and would slice apples to put on top of the cake, then pour bourbon whiskey over it, you can smell this cake all over the house,my family love this cake, Mama Grace was a very good cook and she loved cooking, Mama Grace was the last sibling of her family living until December, 11,2014 she was ninety three years old.

Ingredients
- 1 pound all purpose flour ( 4 cups)
- 1 pound sugar ( 3 1/2 cups )
- 6 - eggs (separate yolks )
- 3/4 pound butter, softened ( 3 sticks )
- 1/2 - cup molasses
- 1/2 - cup bourbon whiskey ( 1 cup if you like )
- 1/3 - cup buttermilk
- 1 teaspoon baking soda ( dissolve in buttermilk )
- 3 - cups raisins
- 4 teaspoons nutmeg
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 1 pound pecans, in pieces ( 2 cups )
How To Make mama grace's nut cake

Step 1Preheat oven 250 Sift flour set aside. Coat raisins and pecans with a little extra flour, set aside,beat egg whites set aside.

Step 2Cream butter and sugar well, add egg yolks, nutmeg, cinnamon, add flour a little at a time with buttermilk and soda mixture,also add the molasses and the bourbon whiskey,

Step 3Add floured raisins and pecans, add beaten egg whites to mixture and mix well, Bake 2 1/2 hours, Bake in a large greased tube pan ( 12 cup size ) put two layers of waxed paper on of pan.

Step 4Keep cake moist, add more whiskey if you like.
