Ingredients

  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup whole wheat flour
  • 2 cups sugar
  • 3/4 cup cocoa powder
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup low-fat buttermilk
  • 1 cup applesauce or oil
  • 1-1/2 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 cup cold brewed coffee
  • 1/2 cup softened butter
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 2 cups powdered sugar

How To Make moist chocolate cake w/ peanut butter frosting

  • Step 1
    Heat oven to 300. Spray a 9" x 13" baking pan w/ cooking spray. In bowl, combine flours, sugar, cocoa powder, salt, baking soda and baking powder.
  • Step 2
    In another bowl, beat eggs. Beat in applesauce or oil, coffee and vanilla. Beat in flour mix, alternately w/ buttermilk. Pour into pan, bake 1 hr, or until a toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Let cool.
  • Step 3
    In bowl, beat butter and peanut butter until smooth. Beat in powdered sugar. Slowly beat in milk until spreadable. Beat 3 mins. Frost cooled cake.
