Mocha Frosting

I made this version of frosting to go with Lisa Glass's Black Magic Cake.

Chocolate on chocolate is a bit much for me, so I decided to tinker with her frosting recipe a little and come up with a Mocha version.

  • 8 Tbsp
    butter, softened (1 stick)
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 3 Tbsp
    coffee, strong
  • 3 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 Tbsp
    cocoa, unsweetened

How to Make Mocha Frosting


  1. Put butter, vanilla, cocoa powder and coffee into a bowl, then slowly add the powdered sugar. Mix until completely blended.
  2. Makes enough frosting for a nine inch two layer or a 9x13 cake.
  3. (prep time is simply however long it takes a stick of butter to soften) ;)
