An absolutely delicious, dense cake with delicious cinnamon cream cheese frosting. You won't want to share this yummy cake, once you try it...I just frost this cake as served...it's so good, it really doesn't need frosting...Yum! My photos

Ingredients

  • 1 cup quick oats
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
  • 2 - eggs
  • 1 - banana, smashed
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup buttermilk
  • 1 1/2 cups diced, apples
  • 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon nutmeg
  • FROSTING
  • 4 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 6 tablespoons butter, softened
  • 1 tablespoon milk or cream
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 3 cups confectioners' sugar

How To Make gone banana's & apple oatmeal cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease and flour and 9 x 13 pan. Set aside. Pour boiling water over oats in a bowl. Leave sit for 20 minutes.
  • Step 2
    In a large bowl, beat butter with sugar and brown sugar until light and fluffy. Add oats, buttermilk and smashed banana. Blend well. Add eggs and vanilla. Beat to incorporate.
  • Step 3
    Sift flour with baking soda, salt, nutmeg and cinnamon. Add to the batter and stir just until dry ingredients are no longer visible. Stir in apples.
  • Step 4
    Spread batter into prepared pan. Bake for 35 to 45 minutes, or until a pick comes out clean.
  • Step 5
    Remove cake from oven. Cool completely in pan.
  • Step 6
    While cake cools, make frosting. Beat cream cheese with butter until smooth and creamy. Add milk, vanilla and powdered sugar. Beat until frosting is smooth and spreadable. Frost cake and enjoy! I frost as I serve.
