florabama coconut cake
Got this recipe from a girl I went to nursing school with. It's so good, I also call it funeral cake 'cause it's good enough to take to a wake. I have also used Greek yoghurt and fat free cool whip to make this. It lends itself nicely to decorating with flowers, candy, or fruit.

Ingredients
- 1 box basic butter cake mix
- 8 ounces sour cream
- 2 packages frozen coconut
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 package cool whip, 8 ounce tub
How To Make florabama coconut cake
-
Step 1mix up sugar, coconut and sour cream. Put in refrigerater to chill
-
Step 2Make butter cake according to package directions. You can make 2 or 3 cakes, depending on the size of pan you use. I have also used a pound cake for the cake recipe
-
Step 3Split the layers in half, making sure that they are flat so the cake lays right. I save the tops and add all of them to the top of the layers so the cake stands up really tall
-
Step 4Save out 1 cup of mixture from step 1. Spread the rest of it between the layers of the cake
-
Step 5Mix the saved out cup of coconut mixture with the Cool Whip. Spread this over the cake for frosting. Keep in refrigerator.
