    white sugar
  • 1/2 c
  • 1
  • 1 c
  • 2 1/2 c
  • 1 1/2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 tsp
    ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp
    ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp
    ground cloves
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 c
    hot water

How to Make Easy Gingerbread cake


  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (depending on your oven.)
  2. Grease & flour a 9" square pan.
  3. In a large size bow, cream together the sugar & butter.
  4. Beat in the egg, & mix in the molasses.
  5. In a medium size bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda,salt, cinnamon, ginger & cloves.
  6. Blend into the creamed mixture.
  7. Stir in the hot water. Pour into prepared pan.
  8. Bake for 1 hour in preheated oven, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
    Allow to cool in pan before serving.
