I found this recipe quite by accident and it has become a favorite in my home.

Ingredients
- 1/2 cup white sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup molasses
- 2 1/2 cups flour
- 1 1/2 teaspoons baking soda
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup hot water
How To Make easy gingerbread cake

Step 1Preheat oven to 350 degrees. (depending on your oven.)

Step 2Grease & flour a 9" square pan.

Step 3In a large size bow, cream together the sugar & butter.

Step 4Beat in the egg, & mix in the molasses.

Step 5In a medium size bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda,salt, cinnamon, ginger & cloves.

Step 6Blend into the creamed mixture.

Step 7Stir in the hot water. Pour into prepared pan.

Step 8Bake for 1 hour in preheated oven, until a knife inserted in the center comes out clean. Allow to cool in pan before serving.
