Ingredients
- 1 - egg
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 2/3 cup vegetable oil
- 2 cups flour, all purpose
- 1 3/4 cups sugar
- 1/2 cup cocoa powder unsweetened
- 1 tablespoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup coffee (hot brewed)
- ICING
- 1 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 12 ounces semi sweet chocolate morsels
- 1-2 teaspoon hot coffee if needed for consistency
- 1 1/2 cups pecan halves toasted
- 3/4 cup caramel ice cream topping (hersheys -my favorite)
- 3 - wooden skewers to hold cake together if needed
How To Make chocolate turtle cake

Step 1Grease 3 9inch cake pans Line with parchment paper Grease the paper and dust with cocoa powder

Step 2In a small bowl combine: egg, oil, buttermilk

Step 3In a large mixing bowl combine: flour,sugar,cocoa powder,baking soda, salt

Step 4Gradually mix buttermilk mixture to flour mixture until combined

Step 5Gradually beat in hot coffee

Step 6Pour batter into prepared pans evenly

Step 7Bake on 350 and cool in pans on wire racks for 10 minutes. Loosen sides from pans and invert cakes on racks, Peel off paper and cool completely

Step 8ICING: In a small saucepan combine sugar, milk,butter. Bring to a boil stirring constantly

Step 9Remove from heat and add chocolate morsels. Whisk until smooth. Add 1-2 tsp hot coffee if it's too thick to ice cake smoothly.

Step 10makes 1 1/2 cups of icing
