Really good pound cake from scratch.

Ingredients

  • 3 cups sugar
  • 2 sticks butter, softened
  • 1/2 cup butter crisco
  • 5 large eggs
  • 3 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 4 tablespoons cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract

How To Make chocolate pound cake

  • Step 1
    Preheat oven to 350. Cream together in a mixing bowl, sugar, butter, and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time to creamed mixture stirring well after each one.
  • Step 2
    Sift together dry ingredients. Alternate adding sifted ingredients and liquid ingredients into creamed mixture until all ingredients are blended together.
  • Step 3
    Pour into greased 13x9 baking dish and bake at 350 for 1 hour, it may need an extra 10 minutes if not done in center. Test with toothpick.
