  • 3 c
  • 2 stick
    butter, softened
  • 1/2 c
    butter crisco
  • 5 large
  • 3 1/2 c
    all purpose flour
  • 4 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1/2 tsp
    baking powder
  • 1 c
  • 1 tsp
    pure vanilla extract

How to Make Chocolate Pound Cake


  1. Preheat oven to 350. Cream together in a mixing bowl, sugar, butter, and shortening. Add eggs, one at a time to creamed mixture stirring well after each one.
  2. Sift together dry ingredients. Alternate adding sifted ingredients and liquid ingredients into creamed mixture until all ingredients are blended together.
  3. Pour into greased 13x9 baking dish and bake at 350 for 1 hour, it may need an extra 10 minutes if not done in center. Test with toothpick.
