An easy to make, moist, delicious cake that starts with a cake mix and pie filling and a smooth and creamy frosting. You can use different cake mixes and different pie fillings and have a new cake every time. You can use 1 can chocolate frosting instead of the homemade frosting.

Ingredients
- 1 box (18 ounces) chocolate cake mix
- 1 can (21 ounces) cherry pie filling or strawberry pie filling
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
- 2 - eggs, beaten
- 1 cup miniature chocolate chips (optional)
- FROSTING: HOMEMADE INSTEAD OF CANNED FROSTING
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/3 cup whole milk
- 1 package (12 oz) semisweet chocolate chips
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
How To Make chocolate cherry cake

Step 1In a large bowl, combine cake mix, cherry pie filling, vanilla and eggs. Beat until well mixed, then beat 1 minute at medium speed. Add miniature chocolate chips after beating. Miniature chocolate chips are optional.

Step 2Pour into greased and floured 9 X 13 inch baking pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 30-35 minutes. Cool cake for 1 hour if using canned frosting.

Step 3Frosting: While cake is in oven, combine sugar, brown sugar, butter and milk in large saucepan. Bring to a boil, then boil for 1 minute, stirring constantly, until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and add chocolate chips and vanilla, Stir with a wire whisk until the chips are melted and frosting is smooth.

Step 4Pour over warm cake and spread to cover. Cool on wire rack before serving.
