i made this cake for a friend of mine today..she said she liked cherry pie and chocolate cake..so I put the 2 together..and Mmmmmmm. This cake can be made with other cake mixes and prepared pie fillings... combinations are unlimited...this is quick and easy...

Ingredients For cherry upside down cake

  • 1/4 c
    margarine, melted
  • 1/4 c
    brown sugar
  • 20 oz
    can cherry pie filling
  • 18 oz
    chocolate cake mix
  • 3 lg
    eggs
  • 1 c
    water
  • 1/2 c
    canola oil
  • white icing,optional, for garnish

How To Make cherry upside down cake

  • 1
    Heat oven to 350^. Spray a large cake pan- I used my pineapple upside down cake pan from dole.You can use your Wilton daisy cake pan if you have one.

    Smear the butter in the bottom of the pan. Place in oven to melt butter; sprinkle in the brown sugar. Then Spread the can of pie filling over sugar.

    Make cake using the eggs, water and oil. Beat 2 minutes, so it is blended well. pour batter over cherries.

    Bake for about 50 minutes or until tested done with a wooden toothpick. Remove from oven and let set upright for 5 minutes.

    Invert onto cake plate. Cool completely. When completely cooled drizzle white icing over top. enjoy as everyone in my friends office did..Enjoy!
