- 1 cup quick oats
- 1 1/2 cups boiling water
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup butter
- 2 - eggs
- 1 1/2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
- FROSTING
- 6 tablespoons butter
- 1/2 cup dark brown sugar, packed
- 1 cup coconut, flakes
- 1/2 cup nuts, chopped
How To Make brown sugar oatmeal cake

Step 1Preheat oven 350. In a bowl add oats and boiling water; stir. Let it stand for 20 minutes.

Step 2In a mixer add butter, sugar, brown sugar; beat. Add eggs; beat. Add baking soda, baking powder, salt and cinnamon; beat. Add cooled oat mixture; beat. Add flour slowly; beat. Pour batter into greased 9x13 cake pan. Bake 35-45 minutes, test with toothpick for doneness. Cool completely.

Step 3Frosting: In a saucepan over low heat add butter to melt. Add brown sugar; stir until dissolved. Add coconut, nuts and vanilla; stir about 5 minutes. Frost cake. Once it cools to room temperature, refrigerate the cake.
