This makes enough topping for a 9 X 13 cake. I've used this topping on a variety of cakes over the years and it never fails to draw compliments.

Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup brown sugar
  • 1 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/2 cup chopped nuts (optional)
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract

How To Make broiled coconut topping

  • Step 1
    Mix all ingredients well and spread on warm cake.
  • Step 2
    Place cake under broiler until topping bubbles and browns slightly. Watch carefully as it burns easily.
