This is an old recipe and is delicious. Tastes better with buttermilk. Can make buttermilk by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of milk.

Ingredients

  • 4 - eggs, separated
  • 4 cups flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 2 cups brown sugar
  • 2 cups blackberry jam
  • 2 sticks butter,melted
  • 2 cups milk or buttermilk

How To Make blackberry jam cake

  • Step 1
    Mix wet ingredients with egg yolks
  • Step 2
    Add 2 cups of milk or buttermilk
  • Step 3
    Sift and stir dry ingredients in another bowl.
  • Step 4
    Add dry ingredients a little at a time to wet ingredients and stir.
  • Step 5
    Beat egg whites till a little foamy and add to cake batter.
  • Step 6
    Add 1 cup of raisins and stir. bake at 350 degrees for 45minutes to 1 hour till golden
