This is an old recipe and is delicious. Tastes better with buttermilk. Can make buttermilk by adding 1 tablespoon of vinegar to 1 cup of milk.

    eggs, separated
  • 4 c
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 2 Tbsp
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 tsp
  • 2 c
    brown sugar
  • 2 c
    blackberry jam
  • 2 stick
  • 2 c
    milk or buttermilk

How to Make Blackberry Jam Cake


  1. Mix wet ingredients with egg yolks
  2. Add 2 cups of milk or buttermilk
  3. Sift and stir dry ingredients in another bowl.
  4. Add dry ingredients a little at a time to wet ingredients and stir.
  5. Beat egg whites till a little foamy and add to cake batter.
  6. Add 1 cup of raisins and stir.
    bake at 350 degrees for 45minutes to 1 hour till golden
