Ingredients

  • 1 c
    blackberries
  • 1 c
    buttermilk
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 3 c
    cake flour
  • 1 Tbsp
    pumpkin pie spice or 2 teaspoons nutmeg, allspice and cinnamon
  • 1 c
    butter
  • 2 c
    sugar
  • 6
    eggs, beat yokes fold in whites at the very last
  • 1 c
    chopped pecans

How to Make Blackberry Cake

Step-by-Step

  1. Combine Blackberries, Buttermilk and Baking Soda
  2. Combine Dry Ingredients
  3. Combine Butter, Sugar and Egg Yokes, add blackberries, buttermilk and baking soda, add dry ingredients, add pecans. Pour into 2 floured 9 inch layer cake pans, bake at 350 degrees for 25-35 minutes
