Ingredients

1 box
(18 ounces) butter recipe cake mix or yellow cake mix
1 tsp
baking soda
2/3 c
sour cream
1/2 c
butter, softened
3
eggs
1 c
mashed, ripe bananas
1 tsp
vanilla

FROSTING

1 c
chopped pecans
1/4 c
butter
1 can(s)
(16 ounces) vanilla or chocolate frosting

How to Make Banana Cake Extraordinaire

Step-by-Step

  • 1Combine cake mix and baking soda.
    Add the rest of the ingredients and beat on low speed for 1 minute. Beat on medium speed for 4 to 5 minutes.
  • 2Pour into 2 greased and floured 9 inch layer cake pans.
    Bake at 350 degrees for 30 to 35 minutes.
  • 3Cool on wire rack and frost.
    FROSTING: Put pecans and butter in skillet.
    Cook on medium heat, stirring until pecans are toasted.
    Combine nut mixture and frosting in a small bowl.
    Cool until spreading consistency.
    Frost cake.
