A cross between gingerbread cookies and chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients

  • 3/4 cup butter, softened
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 - egg
  • 1/4 cup molasses
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cloves
  • 1 1/4 cups semisweet chocolate morsels

How To Make yankee molasses chip cookies

  • Step 1
    Cream the butter. Gradually add the sugar, beating well at medium speed of an electric mixer. Add egg and molasses, beating well.
  • Step 2
    Combine the flour and the next 5 ingredients; add to the creamed mixture, mixing well, Stir in the chocolate morsels.
  • Step 3
    Drop the dough by heaping teaspoonfuls onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350 degrees for 8 to 10 minutes. Let cool slightly on the cookie sheet; transfer to a wire rack, and let cool completely.
