Being allergic to peanuts, I am always looking for peanut substitutes. The best I have found so far is Wowbutter manufactured by Hilton Foods, Staffa, Ontario, Canada. It uses cane sugar and has no added colors, flavours or preservatives. Also Wowbutter is gluten free.

This recipe was originally my Auntie Cakey's(as we used to call her). I have altered the recipe a little by using half margarine and half shortening. I like the textre and flavour of the cookie with this combination.
