Even though there are many versions of whoopie pies, this recipe was handed down from my Mother and they always turn out delicious!

Ingredients

  • CREAM TOGETHER:

  • 6 Tbsp
    crisco shortening
  • 1 c
    sugar
  • 1 c
    milk
  • 1 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 1
    egg
  • BLEND IN:

  • 2 c
    flour
  • 5 Tbsp
    cocoa powder
  • 1 1/4 tsp
    baking soda
  • FILLING: (I ALWAYS DOUBLE!)

  • 3/4 c
    crisco shortening
  • 3/4 c
    confectioners sugar
  • 6 Tbsp
    marshmallow fluff
  • 2 tsp
    milk

How to Make Whoopie Pies

Step-by-Step

  1. cream together shortening and sugar. Add vanilla extract, egg and milk.
  2. Blend in flour mixture of flour, cocoa,and baking soda.
  3. Drop by TBLS onto sprayed cookie sheet. Bake at 425 degrees for 7 min or till tops spring back lightly. Beat together filling ingredients until smooth and fluffy. Cool completely on wire racks. Frost with filling
