    egg yolks, reserve whites for the frosting
  • 1 c
    hot water
  • 1/2 tsp
  • 1 c
    sour milk
  • 2 tsp
    vanilla extract
  • 2 tsp
    baking soda
  • 1 c
    cocoa powder
  • 4 c
    all purpose flour

  • 2
    egg whites
  • 4 Tbsp
    vanilla extract
  • 4 Tbsp
  • 4 c
    powdered sugar
  • 1 1/2 c
  • 4 Tbsp

How to Make Whoopie pie


  1. Cream together sugar & shortening in a large bowl.
  2. mix together eggs, egg yolks, hot water, salt, sour milk & vanilla in med bowl.
  3. mix together baking soda, cocoa, & flour in med bowl.
  4. add egg mix & flour mix to sugar mixture alternating a little at a time.
  5. drop onto greased cookie sheet bake 375 degrees for 15 min
  6. allow to cool completely
  7. FROSTING-directions
  8. Beat egg whites until foamy.
  9. Add vanilla and milk.
  10. Add 2 cups of confectioners' sugar and Crisco; mix well.
  11. Then add 2 more cups of confectioners' sugar and flour. Blend well and spread filling on one cookie and top with another cookie.
